The new logistics center on the A1 motorway has led to an increase in the economic attractiveness of the area, as a result of obtaining the industrial park status.

The investment in our new logistics center at km 19 of the A1 motorway is already starting to generate a significant beneficial economic and social impact on the adjacent communities.

In total, at least 1,200 new jobs will be created, which will have a direct positive impact on the living standards of future employees and their families, in addition to the 600 jobs already in place. At the same time, this will reduce unemployment.

There is also a notable stimulation of new investments in the vicinity of the industrial park for services related to the residents’ activities, which have an impact on the local socio-cultural landscape – small halls have been built and collateral businesses have been developed.

All these economic activities generate revenue to the local budget, which has a direct positive impact on the prosperity of the community. We estimate that the taxes that eMAG alone will indirectly pay to the local community are worth 20 million RON per year.

We’re expanding our Green Delivery fleet to 100 electric cars by the end of 2022.

In January 2020, we launched the eMAG Green Delivery service, based on delivering parcels by 100% electric vehicles, in order to reduce the carbon footprint of our fleet.

19 Nissan E-NV200 vans, each with a capacity of more than 200 parcels and a range of 200 to 300 km, have delivered parcels in Bucharest and Ilfov County. In 2021, the vans covered a distance of 478,800 kilometers. Had these kilometers been travelled by cars running on fossil fuel, 52,668 liters of diesel would have been consumed.

In 2022, we aim to expand our Green Delivery Fleet to 100 cars. If we replaced our entire fossil fuel-powered van fleet with 100 electric vehicles, we would achieve a 72% decrease in emissions from last-mile delivery by our own cars, resulting in 1,647 tons of avoided CO₂ emissions.

And we’re not stopping there. To meet the European target of reducing CO₂ emissions from road transport by 50% by 2030, we will continue to explore the most efficient and sustainable technologies on the market. We will also investigate ways to reduce carbon emissions from heavy-duty transport, so that we can take the lead in this area as well.

Companies on eMAG Marketplace see increases in revenue in their first year of listing.

We strongly believe that, through collaboration and cooperation with our partners, we can contribute to the sustainable development of the Romanian economy. Through eMAG Marketplace, we contribute to the acceleration of the digitalization process of Romanian companies and to the development of online entrepreneurship and we also support the migration of companies to the digital economy.

Launched in 2011, eMAG Marketplace has become the most relevant online sales platform in Romania, offering retailers the opportunity to present their product offer to a solid customer base. The platform is an additional sales channel for businesses that want to expand online. It has been optimized to allow merchants with an established online presence to synchronize their own stores with the platform, automating the commercial flow.

While in 2017 less than 14,000 Romanian merchants were listed on the eMAG Marketplace platforms in Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria, in 2021, the number more than quadrupled, reaching 62,258 merchants.

eMAG Marketplace brings together businesses from all counties, giving them the opportunity to operate outside their local market and present and sell their products nationally and even abroad. In 2021, the sales of Romanian merchants on the three Marketplace platforms grew on average by 89% compared to 2019, with the merchants fulfilling a total of 13.4 million orders, worth 2.2 billion RON.
