We’re expanding our Green Delivery fleet to 100 electric cars by the end of 2022.

In January 2020, we launched the eMAG Green Delivery service, based on delivering parcels by 100% electric vehicles, in order to reduce the carbon footprint of our fleet.

19 Nissan E-NV200 vans, each with a capacity of more than 200 parcels and a range of 200 to 300 km, have delivered parcels in Bucharest and Ilfov County. In 2021, the vans covered a distance of 478,800 kilometers. Had these kilometers been travelled by cars running on fossil fuel, 52,668 liters of diesel would have been consumed.

In 2022, we aim to expand our Green Delivery Fleet to 100 cars. If we replaced our entire fossil fuel-powered van fleet with 100 electric vehicles, we would achieve a 72% decrease in emissions from last-mile delivery by our own cars, resulting in 1,647 tons of avoided CO₂ emissions.

And we’re not stopping there. To meet the European target of reducing CO₂ emissions from road transport by 50% by 2030, we will continue to explore the most efficient and sustainable technologies on the market. We will also investigate ways to reduce carbon emissions from heavy-duty transport, so that we can take the lead in this area as well.

The latest sustainability report showcases the achievements and impact of eMAG’s activity in 2020.

We are always looking to contribute to the fight against climate change and want to set an example of best practices not only for our industry, but for other businesses, too.

We have started to do this by implementing specific measures, such as the introduction of smart delivery and warehousing technologies, but also value chain-related measures that involve our suppliers and customers.

We are committed to investing in the most advanced technologies to reduce our environmental impact, to support sustainable development in the regions where we operate and, last but not least, to be a benchmark for the business environment and consumers alike.

Our efforts are guided by the goal of decarbonizing our economic activities. The tools we have developed to achieve this ambitious goal are a continuation of our core principles: technology and entrepreneurship.

The baseline year we use to measure progress in terms of reducing our carbon footprint is 2019. In 2020, eMAG managed to reduce its carbon footprint by 777 tons of CO₂, or 8.4% compared to the baseline year.

We intend to continue our drive to decouple economic growth from carbon emissions as a key direction in rethinking our economic model. Read more about all our actions and initiatives in our Sustainability Report.
